The Votes Are In: Grammy 2011 Results

The 53rd annual Grammy awards are over with some bands more victorious than others. It’s hard to say that one band “beat” another, or a band “lost”, because to make it this far is a giant compliment to these musicians. Words aside, let’s take a look at who was awarded (in the categories we find most relevant):

Album of the Year:

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
(Triumphing over Eminem, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga)

Introducing: Two Door Cinema Club

These guys, as a friend puts it, “[are] way legit.” But don’t take our/her word for it. Instead, head over to this playlist to hear music from their album Tourist History. The band is from Northern Ireland and have Indie Rock, Electronica, and Alternative Rock influences. Though it’s a three man team they really drive the music. You can always check out their music at the band’s myspace as well.

How To: Turn a Sucky Song into Something at Least Entertaining

I’m not the biggest pop fan, as is evident by the types of posts appearing here at The Beat Project. If you stumbled upon this post/blog because you searched for something like “Lady Gaga” or “Bad Romance” then I’m sorry, because I’m not going to pretend like I care about pop music., however you’re more than welcome to stick around and see what this niche of the internet is about. What I do care about is musicians being creative. Like the Bret Domino Trio from the UK who previously created a Justin Timberlake medley via polyphones, pocket synths, an iPhone, keytar, and theremin. You can check that vid. out here. Most recently however they did something very similar, but with Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance. Check out the video and try and tell me you didn’t laugh.
